Watoto - Restore Tour

Sunday, November 7th @ 7:00pm at First Assembly

Watoto is excited to bring the Restore Tour to Calgary.  The team is made up of former child soldiers along with children that have been affected by the war in Northern Uganda. For 20 years the Lord's Resistance Army waged a ruthless civil war against the people of Gulu District.  Their tactics were particularly brutal as they abducted and used children to enhance the strength of their army and continually brought terror to these communities by mutilating and killing men, women and children.  The war is now over and there is a desire in Gulu to change a story of despair to a legacy of hope, healing and restoration.

Join with the children as they share their incredible stories of healing, forgiveness, and transformation.  It is a free concert, with a love offering taken.  We are in need of host families, that will be willing to have 2 children come and stay in their home for 2 nights.  Please contact Sara @ (403) 695-1100 if you wish to sign up to host.

Vulnerable Children in Haiti

by scurdie | 2010-01-28 15:22:22

We have all marveled at how the world is responding to the crisis in Haiti, sending money and relief efforts. Indeed there is much to celebrate. However, there is a growing dark side, those that respond to chaos with evil.

I was reading today about how there is an increase in human trafficking, predators looking to exploit those that are left weak and defenseless. Aid agencies [...]

Crisis in Haiti

by scurdie | 2010-01-28 14:52:07

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
~ Psalm 18:2

This week, we continue to pray for the nation of Haiti. The devastation and despair we see on TV and online is so hard to wrap our heads around. I don’t know about you, but I have bee [...]
