UPCOMING EVENTS

Olympic Mission Trip: February 12 - 17

Please pray for our team as we travel to Vancouver to minister alongside local churches to reach out to the world.  We will be hosted by Cannaught Heights Pentecostal Church in New Westminster.   Working with More Than Gold and the PAOC, the team will be involved with community service, serving hot refreshments, after-school programs, and strategic prayer.

  • Pray for safe travel, as we drive from Calgary to Vancouver.

  • Pray for good relationships to be developed amongst the team, with our host church, with other teams we will be working alongside, and with the people we meet on the streets.

  • Pray 2 Timothy 1:7, that our team would know: "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline."

  • Pray that we will be effective witnesses to God's love and power, through our faith, through our actions, and through our prayers.

Day Two at the Olympics

by scurdie | 2010-02-15 15:15:54

I feel like I’ve had sensory overload in the past 24 hours. Last night the team went downtown to do some Olympic celebrating at a LiveCity event, and I was like an over-excited five year old on Christmas eve. So much to see and do! But let me back track … First, let me say “WOW” to the Vancouver weather, it has been glorious. Yesterday we were walking around New Westminster Quay to engage p [...]

Day One at the Olympics

by scurdie | 2010-02-13 22:26:02

We have finally arrived! After hours of driving, after months of talking and training, the day has come where we can set our dreams in motion. As an administrator, I was thinking today about how amazing God is in His planning. We’ve been thinking, planning, and organizing for months. The More Than Gold team and the Olympic people have been planning, training, and organizing for years. But de [...]

Vulnerable Children in Haiti

by scurdie | 2010-01-28 15:22:22

We have all marveled at how the world is responding to the crisis in Haiti, sending money and relief efforts. Indeed there is much to celebrate. However, there is a growing dark side, those that respond to chaos with evil.

I was reading today about how there is an increase in human trafficking, predators looking to exploit those that are left weak and defenseless. Aid agenci [...]

Crisis in Haiti

by scurdie | 2010-01-28 14:52:07

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

~ Psalm 18:2

This week, we continue to pray for the nation of Haiti. The devastation and despair we see on TV and online is so hard to wrap our heads around. I don’t know about you, but I h [...]
